Ice HOTEL IN SWEDEN

This Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, just 120 miles inside the Arctic Circle is no gimmick. It’s a real, stunning work of art that is used as a hotel. And it justifies the name. Completely. It’s freezing cold and majestic.

Every year in November loads of artists and engineers flock to the site and start the construction. The ice and snow used for the hotel are taken from the Torne river. They are carved into true works of art in every part of the hotel, including bedrooms, bar, chapel and even glasses for sipping, you guessed it, ice cold drinks.

The Icehotel has 65 rooms in total with carved walls and ice beds covered with reindeer skins. There’s also a lobby, reception area, a hall and a bar. Each of the rooms is unique and provides a different visual effect, but the common thing is that they are all worth seeing.

The sleeping bags are surprisingly warm and you will not need any extra warming up for a great sleep, however the temperature in your room is sub-zero and popping out of your bed for a quick run to the toilet might not prove to be a pleasant experience.

The hotel is made from scratch every year, so there is no plumbing or other amenities you might find in a conventional hotel, but the mere fact that you’re sleeping in a truly stunning work of art should be enough to keep you there
